Were jealous!

Okay fine! Let’s stop the drama. Now here’s the fifteen things you need consider if you want a beach wedding that Rocks!

  1. Be Mindful of your location. You must choose your location wisely and be mindful of tides. You must remember that beaches are usually breezy. Try to pick an area that is protected from direct wind during your ceremony.
  2. I advise to have a ceremony during day time. The ocean is a very beautiful backdrop and beautiful settings for your wedding so I encourage you to consider to have wedding during daylight. Because once the sun goes down, the water goes black.
  3. Choose the flowers you will use wisely. Because you are having a beach wedding, we know that it is very hot out there especially during a day time wedding. And flowers don’t like the hot sun that means that they can’t hold up in the heat which means flowers are very tricky to work with. It is much better to use calla lilies, orchids, succulents and freesias. And stay away from rose and hydrangeas. They are much more prone to wilt quickly.
  4. Have a good sound system. Remember you are having a beach wedding, which means that there’s always a background noise like wind and waves. So I advices you to have a microphone that is wireless and with a windscreen cover, so that your guest will hear your vows not the wave and wind.
  5. Avoid having tan lines. We know tan lines is not very pleasing to the eyes. So to avoid having sunburns and tan lines, use a SPF 50 or waterproof sunscreen.
  6. Public Vs. Private. If you doesn’t want to share your wedding on the hotel or seaside resort guest. And having a background music of yelling kids during ceremony, make sure to ask if privatizing the resort during the wedding is possible.
  7. Dress Accordingly. Avoid to wear big ball room dresses with lace trim because they pick up debris from the beach plus they don’t match the vibe of a beach wedding. But rather wear an airy sheath or light weight fabric because they are sand friendly like chiffon or charmeuse so you gown flow in the ocean breeze. Imagine yourself wearing that kind of cloth while walking in a sandy isle, you will look like Venus plus taking a beautiful pictures of you would be easy.
  8. Ditch the heels. A barefoot beach wedding is very gorgeous. Plus sand and high heels is very unrealistic, they don’t mix up. But if you don’t want to walk barefoot I suggest you to wear flat-sole sandals, espadrilles, wedges or any shoes that would not sink in the sand. In case that you walk there barefoot, be mindful that sand can get hot so put an isle runner made of fabric to help your footy to cool.
  9. Prepare a wind plan. If you think rain is your enemy at a beach wedding, it’s the wind you must worry about. Windy afternoons and evenings can be chilly, sandy or completely drown out the sound for the ceremony. Choose a resort or hotel that has multiple areas that work for the ceremony so you have a back plan B, you never know if the weather is your friend during the D-Day. You need to have a reserve back up plan whether you end up using it or not. I know you never want to ruin this big day of your life in case some problems occurs during the wedding, it’s much better to get equipped and ready than sorry.
  10. Get a Permit. Research the required paperwork to hold your wedding at the beach. And also inquire in advance about the noise ordinances, and be sure to follow them.
  11. Provide Shade. Don’t forget to put canopy to cover the seating area. You doesn’t want to hear a complaint from your guests about being burned in a very hot sun.
  12. Lightings. When dealing with a beach wedding photos, lighting is very important. Suggest ending the ceremony an hour before sunset. That way, you will get great shot in natural lighting, as well as sunset portraits.
  13. Have a seat. Use wooden benches, folding chairs and waterproof ottoman because they are heavy enough to withstand the ocean breeze.
  14. Set up a shoe station. Don’t let your guest to spend their day having a sand in their shoes. Provide a shoe check, where guest can swap their shoes with flip flops and wipe sand of their feet. It includes a bench, towel and a bucket of water.
  15. Keep them warm. To help you and your guests fight a wind chill. Arrange a basket of comfy, color coordinated pashminas to warm ladies’ shoulders.
